Born and raised in the East New York section of Brooklyn, N.Y., New Yitty is poised to take over the rap world with a flow that is both rugged and polished.Far from a rookie, New Yitty began rhyming in 1999, with the encouragement of his current go to producer Sky Carter of BET.com fame. Both New Yitty and Sky Carter found themselves in West Virginia for a brief period as students in Marshall University. After a year Sky returned to NY while Yitty, then known as Fire stayed behind to “hustleâ€. While in W.V., Yitty formed a rap group with another local artist called the Great Onez. The group recorded and independently released an album entitled “Destined for Greatnessâ€. They also opened for acts such as The Nappy Roots and Drag-On of The Ruff Ryders. Shortly after, having one foot in the rap game and the other in the streets caught up with Yitty landing him a 4-year stint in a Federal prison. When asked about his time in prison Yitty replies, “It gave me time to figure out who I was as a man. It gave me time to figure out what direction I wanted to go in as an artist. I grew up a lot in prison.†Released in 2007, Yitty reconnected with Sky Carter and 4 other Brooklyn MC’s and formed the Block Huggaz. Schedule to be the 1st artist to be released from the camp, the self-proclaimed “Ace of New York/Face of New York†ensures that he will not disappoint. “I’m more focused than I’ve ever been in my life. I got a lot of people that believe in me and I can’t let them or myself down.â€Currently putting the finishing touches on his 1st mixtape “New Jack Yittyâ€, the son and grandson of formal local D.J.s. definitely demonstrates the skills and star quality to have industry execs buzzin’. When asked what he thinks his near future looks like he keeps his reply short and simple, “08 is gonna be SO GREAT!†Look forward to New Yitty being at the forefront of the rap game.
