It was 1959 when then little Bobby Corson stood up in in his third grade class and sang, "Oh Donna" by Richie Valens, to his teacher (whom he had a serious crush on), At that moment was the beginning of a long and adventurous musical journey that continues today. Bob's professional music career began in 1964 as the lead singer of the regions number #1 band "The Marauder's" with legenary guitarist Ronny Crawford & drummer Bill Hoenstine. Since then he has worked with some of the finest musicians in the country. He has performed on over 30 recordings as a session player. At one point in his career, Bob was rated the #2 Bass Player in the region (number one was already taken):).From 1969-72, Bob took a break from his musical career to serve his country in the U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Berets) during the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty, Bob resumed his education at NC State University and majored in Psychology.
His musical experience ranges from working with national acts like James Taylor, Carly Simon & Stephen Stills to opening for over 45 national acts including The Allman Brothers Band, Three Dog Night, Fleetwood Mac, Sly & the Family Stone, Jefferson Airplane, Uriah Heap, Deep Purple(w/Tommy Bolin),Jo Dee Messina, Cletus T Judd, Van Morrison, Gene Watson, Johnny Russell and the list goes on, & on, & .. Coming off the road, Bob spent most of his time working with some regional top bands such as "The Rockin Rebels," "Foxie," "Sierra Blue," w/ Bassist Todd Burns and drummer Bob Fogelsonger and finishing out the Twentieth Century as lead guitarist for Country sensation Chris Woodward. Bob also has served as a mentor to many musicians just getting their start in the music business. He semi-retired in 2000, but a new wind was about to blow, when in the spring of 2000 he met future partner and fellow singer/songwriter Paul Berkobin. Together, Bob & Paul, writing and performing under "Berkobin & Corson", have created a unique, driving style of rock with a fresh new sound and life inspired lyrics. Their new CD "Berkobin & Corson" also featuring multi-platium recording artist & friend "Jim Donovan"(Rusted Root) on drums & percussion is soon to be set free.
