Die 2006 gegründete achtköpfige austro-argentinische Formation NAT MAIKOKII interpretiert gekonnt und mit reichlich musikalischem Geschick, Reggae für das 21. Jahrhundert und manövriert dabei zielsicher abseits aller ästhetischen und musikalischen Klischees. Der Improvisation nie abgeneigt kombinieren NAT MAIKOKII auf aufregende Weise Elemente südamerikanischer Musik, des aktuellen Jazz und weiterer musikalischer Erfahrungswelten.
Der Sound von NAT MAIKOKII lässt keinen kalt – weder am I-Pod noch On Stage. Die höchst emotionalen und stimmungsgeladenen Texte des aus Buenos Aires stammenden Musikerpaars Fatima El Kosht und Francisco Perez Mazon und die Rhythmen des Reggaes sind Ausgangspunkt eines spannenden Kommunikations- und Improvisationsprozesses. In einer „Tour du Monde“ wird selbstverständlich und spielerisch aus einem Sprachreservoir von Englisch über Spanisch,von Portugiesisch bis zum Französischen geschöpft.

Bei NAT MAIKOKII stellt Reggae keine Beschränkung dar, sondern ist gemeinsame Basis für überraschend vielfältige genreübergreifende Inputs der Bandmitglieder. Founded in 2006, the eight Austrian and Argentine musicians known as NAT MAIKOKII have been interpreting modern Reggae combined with much musical aptitude and as such have made the genre appropriate for the 21st century. Additionally, NAT MAIKOKII successfully neglects any aesthetical and musical clichés. Thus, with advanced improvisational skills NAT MAIKOKII incorporates elements of south American music, modern Jazz and other genres into a surprising and unique way.
You can hardly stay untouched by NAT MAIKOKII’s sound - neither on your I-Pod nor live on stage. The lyrics written by the musicians Fatima El Kosht und Francisco Perez Mazon from Buenos Aires are highly emotional and impressive and, supported by exciting Reggae beats, they form the basis of a fascinating musical process of communication and improvisation. As a “Tour du Monde” the band playfully arranges multilingual lyrics incorporating the English, Spanish, French and Portuguese language(s).
Good news, hence, for all Aficionados open-minded for progressive music that can easily broaden one’s horizon, (at least on an artistic level). For NAT MAIKOKII the term “reggae” does not mean restrictions of any kind, but on the contrary is meant to be the basis of a multifaceted and genre-rich input provided by the band members themselves.
