Crucial Robbie is one of the biggest names on the black music scene in the Uk. His career began as a box boy on the legendary Sovereign Roadshow sound from Luton which was founded by his brother Lloyd Sovereign and ILarley in 1984. Robbie began to MC on the sound around 1987 and it soon became apparent that he had a real talent. Soon Crucial Robbie was taking on all the top MCs around the UK and "mashing up every dance with his wicked lyrics". It was only a matter of time before the record lables came knocking. Crucial Robbie's first tune recorded in 1988 for the legendary Fatman's Shuttle Records and was called Body Poppin. The record reached No 27 in the Reggae charts however it was Crucial Robbie's next tune that changed his life and made him into hot property. In 1989 Robbie recorded "Proud To Be BlacK" the now legendary tune about black pride. It went to No1 in the UK, New York, Miami and Toronto in Canada. The tune became a world wide anthem in the black music clubs and dances. Crucial went on to score 5 more top 10 hits plus a hit album "Crucial View" recored for the legendary Mad Proffessors Ariwa records. Robbie was always known as one of the best performers in the buisness and performed all over the world. Places like Germany, Switzeland, France, Italy, USA and Jamacia coudnt get enough of him. In 1990 Robbie was invited to host his own Reggae Radio show by BBC 3 Counties. The Crucial Robbie Show was born. Over the next 10 years it went onto to become one of the best black music shows around. It won several awards including Best Radio show and Radio personality at the British reggae Awards, best Radio show at the Italian Radio awards and it was also nominated twice for a Sony Music award. Crucial Robbie also branched out as a DJ playing the best in Reggae, RnB and Hip Hop. The Crucial Robbie show was unique and always featured the biggest names including Lennox Lewis, Frank Bruno,Dennis Brown, Beenie Man,Jay Z, Notorious Big, Bounty Killa and Gregory Issacs to mention just a few. Many of the styles you now hear on the radio were pioneered by the Crucial Robbie Show. Since the Millenium Crucial Robbie has been concentrating on the DJying side playing at clubs across the Uk and beyond. Robbie is currently working on plans to return to the media with a new show and also hosts many big promotions. Crucial Robbie is also setting up an all new web site that will be launched shortly and he has plans for a book about his exploits in the music buisness. Things are about to get HOTTA.Robbie is currently the General Manager of one the UKs most successful Urban music nightclubs called BUDDHA BLUE situated in Milton Keynes England.
