Rafael M. has been part of the L.A. club scene for over a decade now. Very few DJ's achieve the longevity in this business that he has. His love of music has enabled him to experience music as a business owner, DJ, record label owner, and currently as a producer. For close to 10 years he was one of the owners of Prime Cuts Records in L.A.. This shop was an essential stop for every major DJ/producer looking for the newest releases. David Morales, Lil Louie Vega,Chris Cox,Paul Oakenfold,Ralphie Rosario,Abel,Manny Lehman,Moby,are but a few of the world class DJ's who shopped there.While at the store his interest in spinning peaked and he started doing guest spots at small underground clubs in downtown L.A.. He soon was offered a residency at Rage in West Hollywood on Sunday nights. That night became the busiest night for the club. Drawing 600-800 guys every Sunday garnered him a loyal following. His success at Rage led the manager of the now legendary Probe a guest slot on a Saturday night. He was so well recieved that he was offered a residency there for the next 2 years. Guest spots at Circus, Arena, Factory, Red Eye,Avalon, and Here Bar soon followed,as well as bookings in clubs all around country. He currently holds a residency called Anthem on Saturday nights at MJ's. Needless to say this is one of the hottest Saturday nights in town . Arrive early so you don't have to wait in line,but even if you do have to wait it is well worth it! In 2002 he,along with business partner Kevin Hees,decided to start a label called Jungle Red Records. Their first release,You & Me by Solar City feat.Pepper Mashay went top 10 on the Bill board Club Play chart. 2 more releases by Erin Hamilton and Pat Hodges also cracked the Billboard Club Play top 20. Unfortunately the dawn of digital downloading had already begun and the label folded. Fresh with the taste of being an executive producer with the label he decided to start doing his own tracks. Over the course of the last 2 years,he has put together a small studio at his home and is now bearing the fruits of his labour. He just signed a track that he produced titled Get Up by David Gordon to Megawoof Records in the U. K.
