About Me
Well, to scratch the surface; I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but now I am rarely ever there, except to visit family and friends. I have two hometowns to claim to. South San Francisco and Pacifica. South San Francisco is where I "lived" but Pacifica is where I "grew up". In my youth, I went to school in Pacifica by day and by night, laid my head down in South San Francisco. I met some of my lifelong friends in both towns. But to tell you the truth, Pacifica, overall holds a stronger place in my heart......
So about me??? Well,in my life; I have done many things, been a handful of places, have had several different interests and hobbies, and I have been through many stages. My most recent stage is travel and I am heavily addicted to it.
In 2001 I "tested my wings" for the first time by backpacking in Europe and Turkey for 5 months; which was a good start. I then came back to the US for just a little more than a year; and then in early 2003 I flew to Asia and stayed there for 2 years. 15 months of that time was traveling and 9 months of it was living/working.....
The countries I backpacked in Asia:
Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Macau,
Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia,
and Brunei...
I have become very attached to that region of the world...
I also spent a couple months traveling in Mexico.
After all that wandering/roving/journeying; I've come to realize something...there's plenty more to see and do in this world; and I'm just warming up!
As for work:
Currently I am a Merchant Marine (aka Merchant Seaman). In my job, I sail the world's oceans and help deliver whatever the ship I am on is supplying. I am not IN the Navy but I work FOR them with this company (as a civilian). As with this job the new places I have been to are Djibouti (in Africa), Japan, Guam, United Arab Emirates, and Australia.
...Past jobs: Some years back, I bartended around the San Francisco Bay Area.
In 2004, I was teaching English in Bangkok, Thailand. It was a great job and I fell in love with Thailand, as well as Thai culture.
I was even once on a brochure advertisement in Bangkok for the language center where I worked (no joke)....enough bragging....enough said!!
