About Me
Born and raised in Illinois, PY has been rapping for 7 years and has resided in Peoria since 1995. He started out free-styling with friends, and battling any and everybody all over town. PY is very passionate about his music, and has a determination for everyone to listen. "The lyrics are what stand out... Good wordplay is what hypes a nice track and shows real skill"... "I'm havin fun because I'm just being me...no gimmicks, no frontin, just me, getting better at being me... I feel it and put passion into, so the listeners will feel it." From there he began writing and making beats for himself and other local artists. His skill caught the attention of producer G Muziq, who would took him under his wing and mentored him to be one of the most complete artists in the state. "Learning from Tech, G Muziq, and Terry Lindsay is a big reason why I 'm a well marinated artist... I don't take all the credit for that...I had the best in my corner"
After winning several talent shows and catching a buzz locally, he was one of the few finalists chosen for a chance to open up for Snoop Dog in 2002. With the success of that, he put out a single entitled"4Ever Limpin" off his first release "The EP", and created another buzz in the Central Illinois underground scene. PY and long time friend IL MEL would go on to found their own label, Landmind Ent. Following a big response to being featured on the infamous "Crack DVD", PY released his first Mixtape entitled "Illinois Boi Vol.1". The mixtape, featuring Peoria artists ranging from J-Pistols & Mayhem of Landmind, to Technician, Ebony Wade, Mista Dre, Dot Bill, Shorty Blizz and a host of others, shows PYs versatile style backin up all of his buzz.
PY also had a chance to do a track for the Miami Heat entitled Heat Fan for the 2006 NBA Playoffs with two other League Ent. artists, Superia and Fatigue. He was guest host with DJ Lisa Lisa to feature the track on Miami's 99 Jamz mix-tape show. The chemistry of PY is undeniable and infectious. He's became a staple on the Central Illinois music scene with a string of bangers, including "Luv Thang", "4Ever Limpin", "Hug Ya Daughters", "R Side of the Streets", "Dr. Bob-N-Weave", and "Welcome( 2 Philly's World)".
The music he makes will most definitely move and entertain audiences. His talent, passion, energy, and on-stage electricity makes PY an experience that can not be missed. You can find that "Yoc's flow" on display on Landminds compilation "State of Mind" as well as the upcoming Technition album "Business or Pleasure". P.Y's "Illinois Boi Vol.2" Mixtape is being finished up, as well as his first full lenght debut album featuring production from J Blaze and GMuziq of Muziq City, Jrastik( IL MEL & NJ), and Stack Beats. This will go down as one of the best solo hip-hop albums you've heard in a while. "I love the way my album is shaping up...I've been writing real solid songs lately and my album damn near has me out the hood before I can finish it...its turning out 2 be everything I wanted my first full length solo to be...my true, loyal, sometimes crazy PY fans I have deserve this...this is us getting the last laugh as usual" Keep up, or keep feeling left out people, its Landmind!! U knoooooooooo!
