A Musical Time LineBorn January 26,1958 -with a yearning to perform on a toy drum set bought for Christmas 1960 to save the end table tops from taking a beating! Begins to develop his ears by playing standards along with his dad on harmonica.December 1964 - began private drum lessons and quickly bumps drummers at P.S.#65 & Riverside Drill Team out of band. Within a year gets first real Kent drum set and begins to perform at private parties. Begins to develop his musical vocabulary by playing along to the radio, albums, & new 45's provided by his parents. Also started to explore live performances by listening to neighbor Phil Dillon rehearse with his band!May 1966 - performs first paid fill in gig with The Vari-A-Shuns, shortly thereafter taking over as full time drummer till 1971, at this point already involved with Buffalo All City Band & Orchestra with yearly performances at Kteinhans Music Hall. The ears have already begun absorbing the music of the ‘30's on up!September 1972 - after being pulled out of 8™ grade for a ½ year to perform with the Riverside High School Jazz Lab on a new Gretsch drum set & the musical production 'The Music Man'. Quickly graduates to All High Band, and is asked to join A.F.M. Local #92 to accompany his music teachers on gigs throughout his 4 years of high school, playing and learning from the likes of Dave Schiavone & others. Begins to teach private drum lessons at Paramount Music. Continues to develop his musical ears by joining his 1st rock band Magpie, performing the musical productions of Bye Bye Birdie, Oklahoma, How To Succeed In Business (Without Really Trying), Carousel, Carnival. & Brigadoon, hanging backstage at the Rose Garden concerts in Delaware Park, being able to sit in with Aunt Donna Rose 8 Bobby Jones, temporarily filling in for Edison Street and jamming with The Buffalo Jazz Ensemble who's members later developed into Spyra Gyra.June 1976- after graduation, helps form Top 40 band Good Feel and performs out full time, working along with guitarist Mike Lustin from the Enemies, keyboardist Claude Schnell who later went on to play for Ronnie James Dio, & vocalist Sandy Pack who has continually been recording/performing locally as a founding member of East Of Eden.July 1976 - begins doing recording studio sessions for The Greenburg Agency. Radio commercial for Stereo Emporium continues getting airplay for many years.September 1977 - is asked to join Peace Bridge, which later evolves, into SKY. This begins a full time music career of regional touring, performing at clubs, colleges, and concerts events throughout New York & Pennsylvania till March 1981. At this time the recording of a demo tape begins an eventual move to New York City.June 1981/July 1986 - These were some incredible times living in NYC, absorbing all styles of music, being behind the scenes of some incredible recording sessions, hanging out with real professional musicians, and learning the business skills necessary to survive,August 1986 - quickly re-establish myself teaching 4 nights a week between Paramount Music and Buffalo Drum Outlet, and filling in for Shannon & Company and other assorted groups.June 1988 / September 1991 - was asked to join the CPR Band. This begins another full time musical adventure filled with booking, promoting, as well as developing the Official 97 Rock Tailgate Party Band Live from Rich Stadium.September 1991 - joined Knockers, a R&B/Funk Band, The Jamie Moses Band, and started to operate an Open Mic 2 nights a week, backing up a multitude of players & singers, some good, some great & some awful, but there was always an opportunity for them to try to be heard!September 1993 - re-joined up with former Magpie guitarist Don Vaccaro with Triple Play for about a year, then re-joined former SKY Hall of Fame guitarist Ken Wilczak with Fatfarat playing local & regional appearances on the weekends while maintaining the Open Mic 3 nights a week.January 1995 - began Open Jazz by forming Groovitate. a jazz trio along with guitarist Dave Schmeidler & bassist Lew Reczek. that openly invite other musicians whom appreciated this style of music to sit in and even gig out with! This inspired many young musicians like Paul Tynan to break out musically and continue on professionally!June 1995 - broke into the circle of blues musicians by backing Wild 'n' Blue, while continuing Open Mic & Open Jazz nights.March 1996 - broke into the circle of musical productions by performing Anything Goes at Cardinal O'Hara. and continued a run of productions at Lancaster Opera House that include Camelot The Sound Of Music, Hello Dolly. 8 The Wizard Of Oz.January 1997 - joined Black Cat Blues Band, performing along with Bill Ludwig, and BMHOF members John Brady & Bruce Brucato. Also covered many dates with Willie & The Reinhardts, Fat Brat, Only Humen, Robin & The Rubes, Mark Winsick Band & numerous other groups. Was presented buffalo Music Awards Top Blues Drummer! 1998 - Continue to run Open Mics & Open Jazz 4 nights a week at various locations. Performs with Black Cat Blues Band, Groovitate, and various bands.January 1999 – began studio recording sessions with jazz/rock fusion band SkyRats along with Dave Schmeidler & Bill Ludwig, and continue on sessions with Frank Pusateri for movie soundtrack material. May 1999 - joins the Buffalo Music Award winning Top 40 band JoyRyde, performing along with singer/keyboardist Mike Lacki, vocalist Johnna Scime, bassist Dennis Parry, & BMHOF guitarist Dick Bauerle.March 2000 – recorded, produced & distributed CD for Christian Contemporary rock group Crosswinds & begins recording sessions for JoyRyde CD. Presented Buffalo Music Awards Top Rock Drummer.2001 - continue to perform with JoyRyde & Crosswinds. Records all original music tracks for Only Humen CD “Slightly Twisted Fiction”, various independent studio demos, and continues to fill in for various groups. JoyRyde performs a Sold Out Show at The Tralf. Presented Buffalo Music Awards Top Rock Drummer 2001.2002 – Continues recording tracks for JoyRyde CD. Returns to an Open Mic at Quincy Street, performing with Sean Martin, Jim Wynne, & Jim Sutton. Records demo CD, Helps with the formation & performs with The Hudsons, featuring Phil Hudson along with his sisters Pam & Marilyn. Presented Buffalo Music Awards Top Rock Drummer 2002.February 2003 - performs with JoyRyde at the Indianapolis Convention Center representing NY State in front of 8000 guests, & is also hired on the spot during rehearsals to accompany the Harlem Contemporary Jazz Group because their drummer missed the trip. Auditions & is selected to perform with Shania Twain before a Sold Out show at HSBC Arena. Becomes a Board Member & Co-Producer of the Buffalo Music Awards.January 2004 - performs with JoyRyde in NYC at Rockefeller Center.August 2004 – begins working for EASTCO MULTIMEDIA SOLUTIONS, developing CD & DVD projects for Local, National, & International Clients. JOYRYDE ‘AT LAST” CD is Released.November 2004 – continues Co-Production of BMAs. JoyRyde is inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall Of Fame & performs at the ceremony.2005 – continues to perform 3-5 gigs a week. Negotiates sponsorship between EMMS & BMA.2006 – begins to perform steady Wednesdays at Alternative Brews Pro Jam with Jack Civiletto & Kyle Brock. Performs with Shakey Ray & The Colbalt Blues Band in support of their recent CD. This provides an opportunity to open for the Moody Blues & Phil Vassar. Negotiates sponsorship between EMMS & BMHOF.2007 - begins to fill in for Hit-N-Run2008 - begins production of solo demo CD project for Kari Czubinski. Returns to Merlins for Sunday Open Mic. Asked to produce music tracks for next Milk For Health commercial. Records track for Mick Hayes Band CD.
