The drive there is long, and on the way they meet many of the locals, primarily Collet, local resident, Florence, the gas station attendant, and Sheriff Merlock, who keeps the law in those parts. The group is warned that traveling up there may not be safe (it is afterall, a ghost town that has seen many Adirondack winters). After arriving they explore the ghost town and Jake stumbles upon the house of his grandfather.
