I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

TWO FAST NOTES1)Invites: Please do not send me a add friend request unless you send me an email first. I'm not into having a million friends, or even a hundred, but I'd rather that they were FRIENDS. If you want to be my friend, that's great. Write me and let me know a little about you, and WHY you picked me out of the vast community that is myspace.2) Chain Posts, Bulletins, and emails:Please do not send me any. If you resend and repost everything that gets sent to you, pretty soon, people will stop reading what you post. Then, like the 'boy who cried wolf,' when you do have something important to share, people will just treat it like another piece of spam and ignore it. In that way, we all lose. That's all I ask, not much. ================================================My name is Arthur. I am a special ed teacher. Over 10 years ago, I got hurt in the Army, and a botched surgery left me more disabled. I could not work out, and my weight ballooned to the point where I couldn't get around without leg braces, a back brace, and canes. At well over 100 pounds overweight, I was a heart attack waiting to happen. Dallas showed me what I was doing, and he made me see how badly my priorities were screwed up. I was at a point where months, years of life with my students, friends and family meant less to me than the crap food that I was cramming down my throat every night. I realized that my disability owned my life, not me.That is over.I am taking charge of my life. I am following a sensible eating plan, and I am doing YRG with DDP every day. I am moving better. I am feeling better. I am regaining endurance and flexibility that I thought I had lost forever. I am even losing weight. I Started in February 2007, and I have lost over 180 pounds so far!!! I have to do this.I can do this.I am doing this.I have had to modify the workouts because of my disability, but it was not hard. I work a lot of hours, but I fit in a work out every day, and two on most days. I follow the eating plan, so I am losing weight without starving myself. The one thing I gave up was excuses.IF I CAN DO THIS, ANYBODY CAN DO THIS!!I am walking now, without braces or canes. I am trying to learn to run, but I still have to take it easy on that.================================================OK, this first one is what we jokingly call 'the Sasquatch tape.' My son was messing around with the camera, and I lumbered thru the scene. (approx 20 sec) ================================================ This next one is after THREE WEEKS of daily YRG and a sensible eating plan. ================================================This is me in the beginning, doing YRG. I used a chair, yoga blocks, and straps to help me do "my YRG." I made this my own workout. I used some modifications. I needed the blocks, chair, straps, etc. I will not need them for long. No excuses - just do it. ================================================ This is about fear and mistakes. It is my acknowledgement of my mistakes and my declaration that I am going to change. ================================================ This is me after three months. I weigh 234 pounds. I dropped 63 pounds in 86 days. I'm really starting to have fun here.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

DDP, Ted, Smokey, and the rest of Team YRG. I'd like to meet Everyone doing YRG. I'd like to meet anybody else who is facing a challenge - a physical challenge or any other kind of challenge, and tell them that it can be beaten.
