Ok, so first off, I’m Andrew Lindsay, and I wrote, play guitar and sing in the songs above. You can listen to some songs here on the MySpace, or on a CD called ‘Songs to Hide In’ Here's what it looks like:
This is my first ‘release’ so to speak and there are seven songs on it.
My good friend Jamie Hewitt and I were talking about my songs one night and he offered to record and mix them for me. So I chopped down a huge list and decided on the songs to use, whilst Jamie ordered a microphone.
Actually, you can hear Jamie's own music here under recoveryUnit . It's electronica based, and mighty fine.
Time passed and in April we turned my bedroom and his into a mini recording studio where we'd record and work on the songs when time allowed us to. The recording was very humble, laid-back and D.I.Y. Along with Jamie's trusty laptop named Jeff, tights, coathangers and socks were used to get things sounding right in the recording.
At some point, Jamie suggested that his girlfriend Natalie Philip do some singing on the recordings, which I was totally up for. Natalie came down from Stirling and sang away, bringing something else to the songs, which I am very grateful for.
Eventually, Natalie returned to Nothern Ireland during the Summer and my friend Gillian Emerson stepped in on the last day of recording to lend her haunting vocals to two songs. Gillian sounds fantastic.
The songs, well hopefully they’ll do the talking themselves. These songs are just honest snapshots of moments and feelings. They’re very pure and very genuine - acoustic based, with a pop-like feel in there.
Give them a listen, who knows, maybe you’ll find something in there that you like. If you do decide to listen, it'd be pretty awesome if you gave some feedback. Cheers.
