METIL-STONE - the name of the band is based on the environment of Eisenach. The "Metilstein" (old German speech = maid or central stone) is a romantic rock opposite the Wartburg-Castle wher was situated a castle as well.
METIL-STONE - first that were Andreas and Christine Kinder that played under this name since 1994. In 1996 Jörg Koelpin (cello, electric guitar) joined and 1997 Kai Philipp Kunze (bass, saxophon) and Jörg Kurzer (drums, percussions) completed the group. Already 6 weeks after their first rehearsal the 5 musicians finished the raw composure of their debut album "Metil Stone". Their stage premiére the band had in November 1997 at the "20th talent contest" of the "music creativ e.V. ", at which they became pricewinners.
With the album "Metil Stone" they went now in the public. Next to numerous club gigs METIL STONE also played at the "Mühlberg - festival" in Johannesberg with wellknown Acts as SOPHIA and PYOGENESIS. In May 1998 a sampler which contains METIL STONE with four new songs came out in the "Deutschen Phono Akademie Hamburg". Highlight of the year 1998 was, besides an performance with FIDDLERS GREEN in the "Irish days" in Jena, the appointment as the best Newcomer band of Thuringia.
In April 1999 Kai-Philipp Kunze left the band. Anja Baum (bass, cello) took over his position. Highlights of this year were among others the performance for the "fire dance - festival" on the Wanderslebener Gleiche with IN EXTREMO & the MERLONS, in Belzig with the BLIND Passangers & the BUTLERS as well as in the "Malzhaus" in Plauen on the "8th Folkherbst".
At the beginning of the year 2000 there were changes in theyr stuff again. With Maik Sauer (bass, accordion) and Jörg Semper (drums, percussions) the band went to the studio in order to produce their new album "Meetings" in November 2000. Since April 2001 the album is available through private sale of the band.
After numerous performances allover Germany and Highlights as the Open Air at the "Highland Games" in Machern 2002 with 10.000 visitors, Metil Stone is touring now also unplugged through German clubs and pubs since 2003. The non-using of classical rock instruments and the increased use of traditional instruments, as bodhran, cello, tin-whistles, mandoline, accordion and fiddle leads in this case to very new interpretations of the typical Metil Stone repertoire.
