I have a strict policy: I only add people to my Friends List if I actually know them in real life or have known them a really long time online.

Interesting factoid: I periodically rotate my "top friends" list based on a descriptive theme. For example, one month it was "people I have worked a real job with, listed in reverse alphabetical order of their MySpace name".
