Operating Room Recording

About Me

Operating Room Recording has, in one form or another, been around since 1996, starting in Shreveport, moving briefly to Nashville and then New Orleans before coming full circle and returning to North Louisiana. OpRoom presently offers either studio recording in a laid-back home setting, a mobile system for live shows or alternate locations, as well as mastering services. The equipment has been digital since inception, at this time running on Mac software. As an engineer and bass guitarist, I began in a typical self-taught fashion, recording demos and running live sound for as long as I had been playing. Later I moved to Tennessee to pursue formal audio training, graduating in 2002 from SAE Nashville. I am experienced with both analog and digital recording in small and large production format studios, as well as MIDI and synth equipment (I love computers, but I can still run a 2”). In addition to my own setup, I am available as an independent engineer for work in other studios. I’ve worked with a couple hundred of bands/artists in nearly all genres over the years. Projects have included demos, EP’s, full length/live albums and the occasional one-song-done-in-two-hours guerilla recording. Artists have included Inka Gold, Zack the Rookie, the Ditch Diggers, the American Tragedy, Expletive, Ultrasuede, Dirtfoot and Ketea, to name a few. Some venues I’ve recorded in include the Centenary College amphitheater, 516 Soundstage and the Strand Theater. In addition to this work I’ve played in and recorded various projects of my own. I played off and on in local act Crackfight for around four years or so. Right now I’m enthusiastically involved in my band Power Pellet, which I’d define as what happens when some former metal players decide to play indie rock with an overabundance of wattage. Experimenting with recording and gear is a passion for me, and I’m eager to work with anyone doing anything different and original. As well as local music I try to stay involved with the Shreveport area art scene, some of my equipment even displaying some of my wife Conchita’s work (BurningCorazon Arts). I’m at present available for all types of projects and am flexible on times and pricing. In addition I offer my services by the hour in helping anyone with setting up their own recording or live sound systems. Please e-mail me for hourly, block or by-the-song rates, equipment lists, timeframes, (Power Pellet bookings) or just to shoot the shit about gear or methods. No tuning too low, no amp too loud, no noise without beauty.
