Joel Segerstedt is a swedish singer and songwriter known for his work under the moniker “Papa Loco†as well as the singer and songwriter for The Open Up and Bleeds .
Outside of his own work, Joel is a frequent contributor and collaborator to other bands around the world including Red Kitchen, Chimneyheart and The Spy Lodgers. He has composed music for a variety of different types of media and is currently composing the score for an upcoming documentary.
An American once noted that: “The music of Joel Segerstedt can thankfully be summed up by the first and last lines of the James Dickey poem “Adulteryâ€:
“We have all been in rooms we cannot die in and they are odd places and sad.†& “Guilt is magical.â€
To me, the single best and worst thing about the songwriting and singing of Joel Segerstedt is oddly enough the same exact thing: He makes you wish you were anywhere but where you currently are.
