In the summer of 2004 never-before heard sounds erupted from the small town of Columbus, Wisconsin. Three musicians merged their different music styles to create a sound of blackened death metal with strong trash undertones, and classic breakdowns.Cody Stein is the backbone of the band with his original blast beats, march-like rhythms, and distinct tribal undertones. He started playing percussion in 5th grade and started to build his interest in drum set through out his middle school career. Starting out in the jazz field he started to hone in his technical and musical skills from the start. As he went through high school he proved to be an excellent performing percussionist playing high grade music on everything from marimbas to timpani and eventually being accepted into a credited school to study the art of performing percussion. On top of studying percussion Cody joined the Oregon High School Drumline, said to be one of the best high school level drum lines in the US. His venture in playing drum set feed off this intensely diverse background and verged it into the style you hear today.Jacob Smith brings the low end melodies to the band with his exceptional bass talent. Jake started playing with his father and brother on guitar in his very young years. His brother started a band called Idol Mind with drummer Cody Stein. As the band started to part it separate ways for the lack of intelligence in some of the member’s jakes brother and Cody decided to start their own project named Clearance. The band needed a bassist and Jake was more than willing to give it a shot. Within a year he went from knowing basically nothing on bass to playing some of the hardest licks he could find on youtube.com. His fellow band members have called him a prodigy for the skills he had obtained. Dark and funky bass riffs give the band an original and fresh sound.Steven Moser, on vocals and guitar, brings a true metal sound. He started playing guitar at age 12 when he knew he would be dedicating his life to extreme metal music. When Clearance was starting to part, Steven happened to show up at the right time. He lived just across the street and came to listen to Clearance by chance. As he started to play his unique guitar riffs on a beat up acoustic Cody and Jake saw something special and Desero was formed. The name would later be changed to Withering Youth for legality issues. Steven’s riffs will keep you on your toes, and his melodic death/black-metal infused style is easily identified. His guttural growls and throaty vocals definitely lodge the band in the metal underground.Withering Youth is not confined to a specific genre of metal; rather, the band covers everything from blistering speeds to dark melodies, and even produces some upbeat harmonies. To fill the void of having no specific genre they have decided to create Apocalyptic Metal to give light on their unique style and apocalyptic warning. As the apocalypse rises they stand ready to fight as warriors and continue a pure race of full hearted souls. Urging listeners with their songs join the elite, the willful, and the true. Thanks to our beloved Jess we now have merch!Tshirt (black) S* M L XL XXL* $15
