Professional and dedicated people in the Arizona and national entertainment industry who want to create a positive environment for musicians and fans alike, people with real experience in the music business* Decent people in related fields whom have a high level of real-world business education, producers, public relations pros, musical equipment & gear sales reps, free-lance writers, indie-press editors, booking agents, festival reps, stylists, sound techs, A & R folks, publicists, rebel anarchists (just checking to see if you're paying attention) graphic designers, internet press, videographers, etc...* Events you imagined in your mind & shows you watch on MTV do not count as experience or knowledge.
SIRIUS RULES! Go buy one! (you can thank me for the advice later) When it comes to music, only a fool chooses style over substance. So, in no particular order of inspiring artists: Alice In Chains (RIP, Layne) Tool, Stone Temple Pilots, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Fat Rhabit, The Liars Handshake, Jody Gnant, SectaS, , Def Leppard, Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Taproot, Godsmack, Pink Floyd, Jerry Cantrell, The Beatles, Mozart's concertos, Johnny Cash (RIP, the man in black) Queensryche, Dropbox, Bob Dylan, Van Halen (both DLR & Sammy versions), the R & B classics, The Grateful Dead (I caught 23 Dead shows and am lucky to witness an event that is still without peer, RIP Jerry), Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, cool funk and disco tunes that are still bad-ass, Guns 'n Roses (hey Axel! Thanks for f-ing up my generation's Rolling Stones. Nice work, bro), Bach, Wagner's arias, Charlie Daniel's Band, a whole slew of 'Nix-based bands, the indie artists that I respect and always play like it means something, ol’ schoo rappers like Public Enemy, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, NWA, EPMD, Eric B & Rakim, House of Pain, Big Daddy Kane. Poetry and beats, straight from the street: that used to rap’s definition and vibe. Before the MTV programming execs destroyed the genre and made it HIP HOP. When did rap become hip hop? I missed that memo. Did anybody ask Ed Lover if that change was cool with him? http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"
The art of storytelling comes to life on the big screen. Well, sometimes storytelling comes to life. The other times they are Spike Lee's movies. In no preferential order: Predator, Saving Private Ryan, clever , diabolical, and twisted comedies, anything without Adam Sandler or Rob Schneider) The Great Raid, Shrek I & II, Rat Race, Napoleon Dynamite, Black Hawk Down, This Is Spinal Tap, Star Wars I-VI, Indiana Jones series, Patton, Charlie and Chocolate Factory, Pulp Fiction, Sin City, Underworld I & II, The Wizard of Oz, Die Hard series, Terminator series, Lord of the Rings trilogy, WWII era movies are my favorite classics, Casablanca, Iwo Jima, The Longest Day, The Great Escape, Dirty Dozen. Pretty much every Tom Hank movie. Same goes for Tim Burton.
Thank God for the DVR!
WWII and historical non-fiction is my thing. I have read a couple hundred books on the topic. Yes, I have a problem. A bunch of industry trades .., SI, Rolling Stone is still pretty relveant I havent read fiction since Clancy started writing doorstops instead of stories. Currently I have enough fiction in my life, thank you.
My parents. To raise myself and my two brothers was a heroic and massive undertaking. Hero status goes out to people who regardless of race, nationality, or religion who are eliminating the scourge of the 21st century: radical Islamic fundamentalism. The men and women who serve in the United States Armed forces & protection services- both today and those who served. Especially who gave the ultimate sacrifice, like my grampa John & my friend and fellow Sun Devil Pat Tillman. Finally, people who fight cancer with every fiber of their being are my heroes too.
