The Bluejays

We gotta get out while we're young

About Me

THE SHORT VERSION: THE BLUEJAYS ARE PROBABLY THE MOST EXCITING BAND EVER TO EMERGE FROM HØYJORD, NORWAY. NOW, HOW’S THAT FOR A CV? INTRIGUED? SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE HOLY SCRIPTURES MY FRIEND: The Bluejays are a young, up-and-coming, Norwegian act, most of the band members have yet to reach their twenties. The band consists of brothers Bendik and Jakob FiskÃ¥, who share vocal duties and play guitars, childhood friend Sigve Rosslund on drums, and Hans Petter Lund Jørgensen as bass player. Bendik, Jakob and Sigve, all three hailing from the same Norwegian village, early understood that music was the best way to kill time in the cultural vacuum of rural Norway. The only viable way of living was to shut themselves out from the life of their peers and rather absorb lives being lived hundreds of miles away, by staying in, listening to bands like The Beatles, Oasis, Suede and The Kinks with religious fervour. After playing together in different bands, mostly for fun, the FiskÃ¥ brothers and Sigve last year decided to find a bass player and finally form the band that they had been fantasizing about through those lonely, dark winter nights. After endless late hours spent drawing up a masterplan, and after countless false starts and derailed projects, our heroes stumbled upon a new morning and committed it to tape. And it didn’t take long before they realized that this was going so well that the music they produced in the rehearsal space was worth taking to the stage. This led to a series of rapturously received gigs in their hometown, as well as their first gigs abroad in London this May. En route to greatness or oblivion, these are still the early days, and only time will tell where this story will end, but it’s definitely a ride you want to be a part of from the beginning. You’re all invited... Pretension and gibberish par excellence guaranteed.
