About Me

I'm Harriet, i make music, the stuff on here is a bit old as my main focus seems to be my band at the moment (subtracting additions) nd some of the songs on here av been reworked and you can get a better idea of my voice on there
writing and singing is what makes me happy, i write about silly stuff; stupid lads mainly, pathetic people because they anger me and idealistic love, when people are complete arseholes i will turn them into a song
i sing mainly souly stuff hence soul music being the complete love of my life, i also sing in a gospel choir too. In my band i do a bit of rock nd blues nd stuff but i hope that ive got a bit of a different sound, i'll leave that for you to judge. If you need a gutsy female singer for a project or whatever let me know because i love to have a bit of variety.... im gna shut it now lol
upBeat: first recorded song, was originally GCSE composition, aims to be modern soul
Public Skool: second song, its not having a go at public school, its just saying that parents turn a blind eye if they spend alot of money on their kids and think their angels when their not
Taken Over You: third song, its about nice boys with horrid girlfriends who change them into something their not (get a lot of this in wakefield :p )
Daddy Sang Bass: sung with gospel choir, (not an original song) its an old gospel song, with me singing lead
IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU SEE AND HEAR .... SPREAD THE WORD! if I am to get anywhere :)

Harriet Chadwick - Public Skool Not the best production in the world, but forget that - Nice voice with a cool blues edge to it. Very fast track that is rather staccato and could have maybe done with a little more melody. Can’t ignore the obvious comparisons with Nash and Allen and I can’t say that I am a great fan of this type of simplistic playground rhyming where shock expletives don’t make for clever lyrics. I assume Harriet is quite young (no biog available when I write this) so, keep at it. There is something there. Harriet Chadwick - Public Skool This is an upbeat track with good arrangements. It’s fast and it’s furious. As far as Harriet herself is concerned, I couldn’t help but wonder if she wants to be a Northern Lily Allen. However, I think Lily Allen’s songs are lyrically very clever and Harriet’s were very "school-girly". Harriet’s voice is very strong but could be stronger and probably will be with time. But hey, she is only sixteen and when I was that age, I was still struggling with a rubiks cube so what do I know?! Public Skool by Harriet Chadwick. Public Skool starts off with a funky bass line, and in comes some great guitars on both sides of the speakers, definitely tapping along to this! Both the keyboards and the lead guitar have a catchy hook. Harriet’s lyrics and voice goes well with this punky, funky song. However, just because it’s punky and full of attitude doesn’t mean that Harriet can’t put more strength into her voice, its evident she can do it! Some ’real singing’ might make the song more impressive, but that could be just preference.
