In 2004, I entered the Jazz school JB Jazz, playing the electric bass, with Gustavo Roriz as a teacher. One year later, I started to learn the doublebass, with Yuri Daniel, and Nuno Allan, and in 2006 I entered the Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional (National Conservatory) to study classical doublebass technic, with Manuel Rêgo and Miguel Leiria. I also took private lessons with Demian Cabaud.
I'm presently attending the Escola Superior de Música (Superior School of Music), taking the bachelors degree in Jazz Performance. I'm taking lessons from: Nelson Cascais (Jazz Bass), Bruno Santos (Combo), Pedro Moreira (Harmony and Improvisation), Ricardo Pinheiro (History of Jazz) and João Moreira (Ear Training, Music Analysis).
At the moment, I'm a member of the jazz group Young Cats Collective and the rock band Harry Hates Hats .
In jazz music, I have participated in several workshop, in which I've had lessons with Mulgrew Miller, Antonio Hart, Ivan Taylor, Steve Nelson, Carlos Bica, Nuno Ferreira, Ulysses Owens, Stacy Dillard, Hugo Alves, LuÃs Cunha, Bruno Pedroso, Antonio Ciacca, among others.
In classical music I participated in the Workshop Páscoa of 2008 from the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon.
In 2008, I was selected to represent the JBJazz school at the Jazz Festival of S. Luiz, directed by Pedro Madaleno, and received Acknowledgement Award. In 2009, I will represent the Superior School of Music of Lisbon at the same Festival.
I also am a member of José Dias 4tet, David Ferreira's and Joana Rios' bands. I've also recorded Joana Rios upcoming album.
