Nuborn Tribe

About Me

Layout by CoolChaser Nuborn Tribe began in 2004 and they released a limited supply debut EP that received impressive reviews. Chuck Foster of The Beat magazine writes, “Island Joseph…delivers his songs in a style reminiscent at times of the great Jimmy Cliff.” Local roots reggae radio programmer Ras Danny (Higher Reasoning Reggae Time, KBOO Community Radio) chimed “The roots here are thick and full of life! Island Joseph has smooth and natural vocals, incredible writing skills and a commanding stage presence. All this, to me, is reminiscent of David Hinds (Steel Pulse) and truly electrifies the mix! All the other participants in the band add their own vital ingredients to make Nuborn Tribe sound as ‘one instrument.’”Lead singer Island Joseph, a native of Trinidad in the West Indies has been living in the beautiful North West for 11 years, and brings a soulful voice from a truly Caribbean heart! He has a captivating vocal style that is authentic and original. His song writing is inviting with lyrics that hit home.Bass player Cheikh Niahng brings his Senegal, West African roots into the mix. He adds a special flavor to the reggae bass with his experience as a percussionist. Joel Dee Rodgers (lead guitar) puts in tasteful, smooth work. The timely solo’s he delivers say so much but are not overly done. Garret Yates (drums) truly appreciates reggae music and you can absolutely hear it in his drumming style. Wynter Byrnes (keys) folds into the mix a deep appreciation for the bubblers style while incorporating some thematic high ranging melodies Nuborn recently released its debut album “Mama Say” to high praises and excitement. This full-length album has 14 tracks, featuring deep roots reggae, with conscious lyrics and true originality throughout. The music of Nuborn touches people deeply, as they play songs addressing issues facing the world today.
