Santiago rebelde se forma a fines de 1989 en el barrio Brasil cuando un grupo de amigos influenciados por la música Ska y punk-rock se juntan a ensayar bajo ese nombre, esta formación estuvo en un principio formada por Corzario en voz, Nicky en bajo, Panda en guitarra, Cristian en batería y Ranking Pato, tuvieron su primera presentación en la galería Bucci en una exposición-arte el 1º de febrero del año 90'.La banda se destacó por tener letras directas y fuertes que para esos tiempos eran cosas distintas, todo esto estaba sumado a su ritmo alegre y contagioso que gustaba a todos. Con el fin de darse a conocer graban la 1era maqueta “victimas del terror, 11 de septiembre de 1973, una estafa más” que circuló en todo Santiago en forma gratuita (copiado). Durante un par de años recorrieron todo Santiago con presentaciones que hacían crecer cada vez más el número de seguidores, fué en estos años que entraron a la banda Julio Osses y Pablo Zúñiga quines relevaron a los anteriores integrantes a cargo de las cuerdas. Posteriormente graban la 2ª maqueta que no tuvo nombre y que fue incorporado junto al demo ”victimas del terror..” para comercializarlo como el1er demo conocido por todos como ”Rude Boy”, con este demo el grupo fue conocido en todo el territorio nacional y en países como Argentina y Venezuela.Poco tiempo después se incorpora Alejandro Pardo en percusión, corría ya el año 1992 y durante esta época lel vocalista de la banda tuvo que realizar el servicio militar obligatorio y los demás integrantes dedicaron el tiempo a sus estudios dejando así la historia de Santiago rebelde descansar para más tarde volver.El 5 de marzo del 1994 el grupo se junta para tocar en la fiesta de matrimonio de Cristian Tauber, los ex-integrantes se dan cuenta que la necesidad y deseo que tienen cada uno de retomar la banda como tal, deciden volver a tocar y darle más vida al Ska que se mantenía hasta ese momento dormido sin Santiago Rebelde en la escena santiaguina, el grupo retoma el camino pero con nuevos valores musicales y de paso también con nuevos integrantes, la formación quedaría formada por Paola Vicencio en bajo, Pablo Fuentealba en guitarra, Alejandro Pardo en percusión, Diego Sandoval en saxo, Marcos Cocas en teclados, Noemí Grinspun en trombón y Julio Buseta en trompeta, además de sus creadores, Corzario en voz y Cristian en batería.Las presentaciones de la banda crecieron en número y eran difundidas en los medios de prensa, en el año 1996 Santiago Rebelde fue finalista en el concurso muscialNescafe Concert , con todo este largo prontuario la banda se encontraba en su mejor momento de creación y composición musical, lo que hizo necesario concretar todo el trabajo realizado hasta este momento con el lanzamiento en forma independiente del primer álbum larga duración llamado "Tatuajes, Ska & Hardcore", una edición de 500 copias en una cinta que fue grabada en apenas doce horas inenterrumpidas de sesión musical y que es una buena muestra de la energía, la agresividad y el desenfreno que genera este grupo, este cassette estuvo disponible solo una semana en las tiendas especializadas para luego agotarse.Esta formación cautivo a mucho más publico lo que permitiría a la banda viajar por todo Chile, en esos momentos sufriría un nuevo cambio de integrantes, ingresan Polo Garcia en saxo alto, Marcos Cocas en Trombón y teclado y Cristian Araya en percusión latina, este cambio permitiría incorporar y mezclar ritmos alegres y bailables con letras agresivas y contestatarias.Santiago Rebelde a pesar de todo su esfuerzo y de su larga trayectoria jamás han recibido el apoyo de ningún sello nacional, estas pequeñas derrotas lo fortaleció y tal vez gracias a ello la banda lograría hacer una segunda producción independiente que apareció en Marzo del año 2000 bajo el nombre de “Mi nombre es vicio” (que es una burla al vicio, sus tabues y una satirica lirica )... durante ese tiempo fueron también invitados a participar del disco tributo a Los Prisioneros, grabando el excelente cover de la canción "Sexo" con todo el estilo y la fuerza que los distingue.En forma posterior a esto el grupo se toma un receso, tiempo que aprovechó Carlos corzario para fundar Santiago Rebelde Records, sello independiente que editó todo el material grabado por Santiago Rebelde incluyendo un cd en vivo de stgor mas dos cedés compilatorios en vivo y 5 fanzine..s Unión, Respeto y Ska! que darían el nombre a los míticos festivales llamados de igual manera, esto sería una muestra más de que el ska estaba resurgiendo en chile.Durante el 2000 hasta la actualidadse puede resumir un total de 15 festivales de ska, 5 de ellos gratuitos al aire libre como parte de un proyecto adjudicado al centro cultural que lleva el mismo nombre y que incluyó la actuación de bandas extranjeras como Karamelo Santo (argentina), Los Psicosis (Perú), Los Calzones Rotos (argentina), Argies (argentina).Por estos días Santiago Rebelde esta en etapa de desarrollo, con nueva formación y nuevos temas para un nuevo disco, preparando una gira por Europa y trabajando duro para apoyar a todas las nuevas bandas nuevas, organizando e informando sobre el ska.La batalla recién comienza y nuestra arma es la difusión...
