I graduated in May 2008 from the University of Oklahoma Schusterman Cetner with my Masters of Social Work Degree and just accepted a position with Family & Children's Services. I will be working as a children's mental health school-based therapist working with individuals, groups, and famililes. Drug prevention and parental involvement with school activities are also part of this program. I am very excited to be working with a school system and with children. I value early prevention and intervention as I have seen what damage can be done in later life when early symptoms (especially from trauma) can lead to.
I will be working under supervision for my LCSW license.I received my Bachelors in Social Work from Northeastern State University. I performed my Bachelors practicum with severely mentally ill adults with a co-ocurring substance abuse disorders who have also been chronically homeless.
I then accepted a spring internship for my Masters program with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System where I helped gather biopsychosocial information to be used for mitigation in Capital Defense trials. This is a new area of social work and I hope to work there after receiving my clinical license (LCSW).
