About Me

I am a composer for the stage and screen based in Sydney, and currently undertaking a year of study at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).As an undergraduate at the University of QLD, I collaborated on many theatre productions with companies such as The Restaged Histories Project, The Nest, Queensland Arts Council, Kooembajdarra Indigenous Performing Arts, the Queensland Theatre Company, NIDA and the Looking Glass Theatre Company in New York. In more recent times, however, I've focused more on film, television and new media, and I'm steadily building a career as a screen composer. Recent projects include live accompaniment to the Japanese silent animated film "Burglars of Baghdad Castle" as part of the Japan Fantastic exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art, new music for the popular children's book "The Stroogle Warms Winter" on CD with narration, and original scores for "Kids Against the Ropes": a half-hour documentary produced by ReelVision productions, "cuckoo": a half-hour sit-com pilot produced by W.A.A.A.F.T Productions, the short film "Home Sweet Gnome" as part of the QPIX "Into the Light VI" series and a new short by Lucas Taylor entitled "The Stretch". Currently I'm working on a zombie film entitled "Axed" for Human in a Can Productions. Following are some short examples of my work: Home Sweet Gnome: Title Sequence Home Sweet Gnome: "Dear God, The Lads!" Kids Against the Ropes: Title Sequence Kids Against the Ropes: "The Big Day"

His talent is a major resource to the State, and can be more so in years to come.”- Marcel Dorney: Playwright, Actor and Director. “Quite simply Robert is extraordinary! I have worked with him on two projects in which he was an integral part of the creative realisation and have witnessed his talents in other productions in Brisbane.”- Andrew Cory: Freelance performer and director of Red Spoon Inc.“This year, Robert has worked in the capacity of Music Arranger, Sound Designer and Composer across the two Education Performances I have directed at Queensland Theatre Company.
