About Me
SPIN Gallery was founded in April, 2000, by Juno Youn and Stewart H. Pollock. SPIN Gallery is situated in the heart of the Queen Street West art and design district, showcasing Canadian and International contemporary art. The acronym for SPIN is drawn from the multifaceted disciplines in visual art: Sculpture, Painting, photography, Installation art, and New media.
The aim of the gallery is to promote Canadian artists and, by doing so, to build a bridge to the international art market. Voted as the Best Gallery in Toronto by NOW Magazine, Eye Weekly, X-tra Magazine and toronto.com readers, SPIN Gallery brings intriguing new artists to the forum while continuing to promote the artists it has helped establish. The gallery has also produced special exhibitions involving pop culture themes, such as Fashion Queen (Fashion shows with art exhibition) 2000, and 2002-2004, and SPIN THAT MUSIC (Musicians like Daniel Lanois, Michael Stipe's art works) 2002-2004.
With an interest in being a catalyst for the ever growing Canadian art scene, SPIN Gallery is host to many corporate events, private functions, fashion shows, film productions / commercials, and much more. (Please see 'Bookings'). Above all, SPIN Gallery believes in the merging of contemporary art with music, fashion, design, and architecture. ART FOR EVERYONE! Venue for every kind of event!
