About Me
“Born to perform on stage†is probably what describes Kemi best. Already since she was a child she proved that show-business is her business. Influenced by outstanding singers from Whitney Houston to Randy Crawford, young Kemi impressed people around her with her show talent.
Her career really started in 1997 when she was 14. Among 20,000 candidates for the Bravo Boy & Girl contest, Kemi made it to the girls’ top 10 and in the end finished 3rd. At that time Kemi attracted entertainment as well as fashion industry’s attention amongst others, Bravo photographer Frank Lothar Lange who worked for celebrities such as Backstreet Boys, Scooter, KC & Jojo, Mariah Carey, The Pussycat Dolls and several more.
In 2000 it started to pay off – BMG Ariola Hamburg contracted 17-year old Kemi. Her first single ‘Boychild’ opened the door to music business. Kemi made her first experiences in recording studios followed by promotion appearances on TV in Bravo TV (RTL2), Mausclub (ARD), Chart Attacke (ZDF) and Sternstunde (BTV).
At the same time, Kemi tried her way into presenters’ business leading to castings with MTV, VIVA, Bravo TV, etc.
In 2001, Kemi was invited to RTL2’s ‘Teen Star’. Convincing the jury which consisted of success producer Mousse T (Horney, Sex Bomb), MTV VJ Markus Schulze and producer Tony Cutura, the audience voted her into the Teen Academy. Kemi was coached in singing and dancing, however, also used the chance to get to know people around her. Together with Christine Kieu she joined ‘Me and the Heat’ with musicians like Rolf Stahlhofen (Söhne Mannheims), Armin Rühl (drummer with Grönemeyer), Martin Achterlick (guitarist with No Angels, B3, Vanilla Ninja, Shaham Joyce Bro’Sis).
Kemi used the time to extend her experience on stage leading to a positive side effect. Her father supported her application for the RTL show ‘Deutschland sucht den Superstar’ where Kemi easily made it to the motto shows.
Several appearances and live shows on TV followed (Top of the Pops (RTL), Fit for Fun TV (Vox), VIVA Interaktiv (VIVA), etc.) and even recordings in the Caribbean, Portugal, Turkey and Switzerland.
Not surprisingly, Kemi did not neglect school and made her A-levels in her native town Gronau. In parallel, Kemi worked with producers like Frank Ramond (Annette Loisan, BASIS), JMC (Yvonne Catterfeld), Enrico Zaberl (Masterboy), Buisy (Curse, Joachim Deutschland), JCA (Danny Minogue ‘I began to wonder’), Dieter Bohlen (Modern Talking).
Whoever expected Kemi to have a break was proven wrong: Kemi was contracted by 3 model agencies among which was TALENTS, a top agency in Europe. Kemi worked for the fashion label Vero Moda, the German labels Wolford and Nike, the Italian label Parasuco Cult and the famous Berlin fashion fair ‘Bread & Butter’.
Moreover, Kemi continued to work on her solo career. Prior to that, Kemi joint the famous Jazz singer Peter Fessler, Eva Letticia and Glenn Garcia to perform Trio Rio’s summer classic ‘New York, Rio, Tokyo’. The single was published in June 2005.
Kemi finished 3 videos, 4 CDs and 2 DVDs. At the moment Kemi is a contestant of PRO 7 Show “Popstars on Stage†and present in several magazines.
