Samba Schools continue the tradition of the most African of the events during Carnival which are the Samba School Parades in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil celebrated through dance, music, and costuming of the flag bearers and partners, baianas, queens, princesses, male/female solo dancers, drummers, singers (Brazilian Portuguese), children's group, Velha-Guarda (original members), and floats. Bateria percussion instruments: Surdo, Repinique, Caixa, Tamborim, Chocalho, Cuica, Pandeiro, etc.

History was made as she became the first ever to be the Rainha da BaterÃa (Queen of the percussion group) in the Sambadrome (world-famous stadium for the Samba School parades) for a worldwide Samba School in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with one of the famous Brazilian singers from the Samba School Beija-Flor de Nilópolis, Neguinho da Beija-Flor . A documentary of this historical event was presented in the Museu da Imagem e do Som (Museum of Sound and Image) in Rio. She has also lived in Rio and volunteered her time working with children in a favela (shanty town) in Rio de Janeiro.
