I got tired of the "rat race", the games people play and the cut-throat attitudes in corporate america and moved to the mountains of North Carolina going on 12 years ago now. I've basically been doing the starving artist thing here since then -- waiting tables, delivering pizzas, and anything else to make ends meet while doing my art on the side. I even worked as a finish carpenter for 3 years. It gets rough sometimes, but I have to say that I've never felt more at peace or more at home. I no longer carry with me a can of mace, nor do I even have to lock up my house or car. I sometimes call this place my "Waltons Mountain" because, at times, I feel as though I've stepped backward in time.
I'm now able to be doing stained glass artwork full time while playing with other mediums on the side. And I'm loving every minute. Life is so much simpler, manageable, and peaceful. For now, I don't want it any other way.
