Born in the year of 83, Tyler spent most of his young years taking in the wonder of Transformers, Ninja Turtles and Dino Riders. An artist before he could walk, drawing pictures became his main output. From there, Tyler found video games more amazing than any friend or motherly cooked meal he could find. His first interest in music came with the curious thought of putting a Commodore 64 game tape in his dads stereo to see what it would sound like. With an ear destroying sound of static and noise, he knew that he wanted to make beats. Later years found a 14 year old Tyler experimenting with tape decks and turntables in the most basic of ways. Mix tapes were God. He took up drumming and helped form the NuMetal band The Porn Puppets. After a few years of playing and many arguments later, he left the band, moved on from Punk and Metal and began to explore the wide world of Hiphop. His post high school freedom allowed him to fully imerse himself in the culture. He wrote two unrealeased albums and a bunch of odd songs scattered about the place. At 19 Tyler took to electronic music such as Drum N Bass, Tech, Breaks and the harder styles of Dance. It was at this point that he met fellow hiphopper, Addikal, who later went on to form the now retired, Suitable Few. Tyler (under the name Shoelace) played shows alone at the Cheap Trixxx events in Newcastle until joining with Addikal, Newcastle DJs Devine & Punch to make the Ghost Project. A group that encouraged new Mcs and Djs to join them on stage. They played at the weekly event, Funktion for a time usually playing to a five man or less house. Tyler also supported The suitable Few at the Metro in Sydney. Eventually, Tyler took a break from writing (more like writers block) to work on producing and develop his own style of sound. He began fiddling with Acid Pro and Fruity Loops while gathering thousands of samples from every posible source. He became heavily influenced by Akira Mamaoka, Portishead and other deep sounding groups and artists. During this time he met Redfern MC Canvas and Dj bj from FatPizza otherwise known as The Menace. They created a darker, deeper hiphop through their workings. Eventually after many late and scattered nights, newly named Minus Tyler created the beats you see before you not to mention countless more. Currently, Minus Tyler is working on new material for an idependent release. He is also one half of the DJ duo known as The Grid that play a mash of dirtty electro, indie, tech and breaks. In march of 08 they played at Spectrum on Oxford Street, Sydney supporting The Vangarde, Emergency!Emergency! and Dead Inside The Chrysalis.
