About Me

Spank the Kitty has been playing live music for fans on the Southern Gulf Islands since 2000. A move towards greater visibility came in 2005 when the song 'Been Meaning To' was played on CBC national radio from the release of a self-titled 6 song EP."Spank The Kitty delivers just about the best sound on the coast: rocking, melodic, versatile, danceable and listenable. An open ended ensemble (sometimes they're three, then again they could be six or more) STK comes complete with a great grasp of what makes pop tunes work and turns them out with great ensemble playing, lots of driving rhythms, just the right amount of guitar pyrotechnics and endless reserves of energy and West Coast soul."Jurgen Gothe, Host of CBC's Radio 2's Coast-To-Coast afternoon show, Disc Drive and Jurgen Gothe's Hit List.STK Founding members Dave Shurvell and Jessie Christophersen relocated to Vancouver in 2007, and have recently teamed up with Janice Dunbar from Boomchix to form their new band 'The Burrs'. Performing songs written by Dave and by Dave & Janice in collaboration, their music is highlighted by a fun alternative roots/rock/country sound with plenty of harmony vocals.Visit The Burrs at www.myspace.com/theburrsmyspace.
