~Music Bio~
Hello to all my friends and fellow musicians! I want to thank you for stopping by my page and taking time out to learn a bit about me and my musical endeavors :)I have been told that my music can be described as spiritual, deep, connecting and thought provoking. As a singer songwriter I like for my songs to transcend any particular genre and vary from slow and soulful to gentle and rhythmatic to pop and even folk and country. I am not afraid to show my true self through my music and with this honesty keep my music real and true to home for the listener. This is important to me :)
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan I began my music career playing classical piano at a young age and later around age 19 picked up my first guitar. Self taught, I rely on my feeling and intuition when composing songs and the result is (what I think) simplicity with a touch of realism and the uncanny ability to write songs that don't always follow any particular rules.
My inspiration comes from life itself. Deeply affected by my mother's death, I found that music was a spiritual outlet for me to deal with my grief. Later I combined my feelings into writing my own music and in doing so, found healing in ways that I share with you today. My music is about adventure, following dreams, heartache, change, motherhood and being true to yourself as a person.
~Shows~
I have been blessed to play locally in St. Louis at various acoustic shows at venues such as Cruisin Rt. 66 The Blue Agave, 10 Mile House, The Red Sea, Lil Peeps and have performed live at high schools, the St. Louis Pagan Picnic and on stage (open mic!) at Schwagstock 36. I credit my family & friends and the local St. Louis music scene for being supportive, friendly and encouraging my efforts as a song writer & musician.
Part of my committment to music in St. Louis is being active in a local group of musicians, venue owners and media called St. Louis Musicians Unite that is trying to work at revitalizing the St. Louis music scene. I try to get out to open mic nights as often as possible and to also see other local bands in St. Louis. I am the Chairperson to the St. Louis Pagan Picnic Bardic Circle and am active in finding and supporting local talent for the festival held each year in Tower Grove Park. Support local music!
~Current News & Projects~
I am currently spending time in the studio recording my first solo Demo CD. It is challenging and fun and I am hoping to have my demo completed early 2009.
I would love to eventually have the opportunity to work with other musicians and create a full acoustic band with another acoustic guitar, additional vocals, drums or djembe and bass. Have some fun and create some good music together!
In addition to my solo work I have been playing keyboards with a newly forming band. This band plays a combination of covers and original material and will hopefully begin playing gigs sometime next year!
