The Roots!
The roots of this band stem back to a lesser know ska band called Banana Belt. Nathan Jamieson(Guitarist) was lead singer and harmonica player. There was a guitarist and drummer as well but no bassist. We called upon Tom Duncan(Bassist) to finish the sound. The band went alright for about two months but quickley fell apart due to the guitarist and drummer's alchoholic conditions during practise. Also creative differances arose between the guitarist and Nathan over lyrical content.
Robin Henry(drummer) found out about the band and came to a practise. He immediatley saw Tom and Nathan's drive to make music. Robin Henry suggested starting a new band. So Nathan and Tom quit Banana Belt and started a band with Robin witch became The Artful Dodgers.
For the first six months of The Artful Dodgers we did not have horns or a guitarist. Nathan Jamieson was the singer. Sadly he couldn't sing at all. So we searched for a singer. We snagged are old friend Angela Mcinnes. She blew us away during the first practise. Next we had to get a guitarist. We searched threw two or three guitarists but none of them were avalible for practise as much as needed. Nathan started bringing his guitar to practise with little ideas he had for songs. After a few months Robin suggested Nathan be lead guitar.
Horns!
Next we needed horns. Nathan had been in a ska band before Banana Belt called Stupid Face. Stupid Face had a trumpet player, Josh Parker. Nathan called up his old ska buddy Josh and suggested playing trumpet for the band. Josh agreed and quickly joined. After a few months Josh was kicked out of the band because he never showed up. Taket a tumpet player at our high school wanted to join so we let him in. After a few months Taket wanted to switch to Trombone. We let him make the switch and called Josh are previous trumpet player to come back. Josh agreed and came back more faithful to the band than ever. Soon after Joshes arrival, Taket quit the band to persue Jazz music. Dave SeaChrist another trombone player had been showing interest in joining the band during Takets time in The Artful Dodgers. After Taket was out we quickly snagged Dave and he became our devoted trombone player.
After much practise we were ready. Hitting small venues here and there and playing with close friends. Getting better every gig. We have now released our 3 song LP and have many new songs on the way.
We love ska and want to show London and one day the world how much fun it is. Come out to one of our shows and have a blast!
