This is my war: Inside and out, one for the ages. We stand on an ever changing battlefield, wearing our hearts on our sleeves. We take up our causes, mold them, and in turn let them define us. Each one more is dramatic than the last. We cannot lose, or we lose ourselves. With a sense of grandeur and nostalgia we move forward, advancing our own personal agendas and trying to protect all that we hold dear.
This is my romance: Notions of longing, we border on obsession. We all have someone who we put above ourselves. We open our hearts in the hopes that it doesn't kill us. Sometimes it does kill us, but without trying we will never know. It is a gamble, but one that we make over and over again despite our better judgment. Try as we might, the pain of bearing our naked soul to someone else is a destruction we cannot turn away from.
This Is My Empire: We build our romances, and they protect us from our wars. One cannot exist without the other and that is what makes us human. We hold on and protect our little pieces of our world, because to us, these empires we've constructed are what we have to live for.
The music of This Is My Empire draws its inspiration from many sources reaching from the smallest human interactions, to the largest scale of an epic conflict, in both reality and fiction. Justice gone terribly wrong in "Black November", a life long betrayal in "Lies. All Lies.", and the search for a sense of purpose in "Heroes & Villains". This Is My Empire is a chronicle of our lives, and no matter how grand or insignificant they seem, nothing is trivial.
This is my war. This is my romance. This Is My Empire.
