At one time I could play the piano (started lessons when I was seven); from there I took up the trombone, then eventually moved to tuba. Senior year in HS, my band teacher introduced me to the string bass, which I played through college (Bluegrass, no less! The "Spencer Mountain Boys" we called ourselves!) Started arranging for 18 pieces when I was 17, and was awarded both the John Phillip Sousa and the Louis Armstong trophies my senior year.
Then, life happened. I was able to sing Barbershop for a few years, but even that fell by the wayside when it came time to earn a living. 'Course, having moved to one of the most expensive areas of the nation didn't help much. My dear ol' dad had once told me that he would always be there to support me in my career path unless I chose either education or music as my field of study.
So I became an accountant. Languished for some twenty years, but finally found my way back in association with music in March of 2006. Will I ever get back to anything more than "Music Appreciation 101"?
Keep watching.

The Saga of Ichabob - The Care & Feeding of a Classic (Pt I)

I should begin this tale by answering the second most often asked question first: "Ichabob???" (usually mispronounced with a soft "ch"). See, I used to be really skinny. This wasn't always the case. ...
