Edina Balczó started playing the guitar very late, when she was 17. Six years later she turned into learning flamenco from the influence of Paco de Lucia’s beautiful guitar playing. She is mostly self-taught musician although she had some lessons from two masters for longer period: Andras Varga (flamenco) and Adrien Miller (jazz).
She played in several groups: with Los Vampiros she achieved huge popularity within one year in Debrecen, where they performed in several clubs and local university parties. In the summer of 2007 they were invited to the 2nd International Guitar Festival in Balatonfüred (a Guinness record attempt for the longest concert in the World), where Edina Balczó performed (as well as a solo guitarist) after Saso Zver and Lasse Johanson. When she moved to London she played with a jazz guitarist, called Matt Gaydon and they performed in several clubs and bars and in the summer 2009 they played in the famous street festival in Veszprem (www.utcazene.hu). Her new formation called Las Senoritas where she plays with Dafna Madam (darbuka).
She started uploading videos to youtube in May 2006. Besides classical and flamenco pieces she plays her original compositions, and uploaded some guitar lesson videos she made as well. Because of the popularity achieved there an international guitar magazine (www.easylearn2playguitar.com) included her in one of their articles on the internet. In April 2008 her youtube account was honored she was among the most subscribe musicians (all time) in UK. From January 2009 she is a youtube partner.
She moved to London in August 2007, where she lived off busking and she also performed in several well-known bars and programs (among others Le quecumbar, Spice of Life, Monkey Business Comedy Club BBC children in need, Cafe 1001 bar). Her music appeared in a documentary film, called A technicolor dream (2008, Eagle Vision).
