Dondagga

Don Dagga is the stage name of Franklin Ehi-Egharevba, Nigerian dance hall-ragga artiste. A native of Benin City, Don Dagga is a Gemini, his birthday is June 14 1979. From childhood he has been heavily influenced by Jamaican reggae, raga, dancehall and singjay artistes. His favourite old school Jamaican artistes include Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs, Yellow man, Ninja Man, Papa San, Shabba Ranks, Shaggy, and Lady Saw. His current influences include Bounty Killer, Sizzla, Junior Gong, Capleton, Jah Cure and Sean Paul. Singing and dancing since he was “a lickle pickini” Dagga is a natural on stage. Massive energy, charisma, supported by an incredibly flexible vocal range - capable of shifting instantly from Barry White smooth depth to Buju Banton distortion. Don Dagga has been playing live since 1996. Toured with a lot of Nigerian acts and also later formed his own Ragga-Hip pop groups. In Lagos he released the album Freaky with the group WYSIWYG (acronym for What you See Is What You Get). Dondagga writes, arranges, and co-produces all of his songs. His music is about reality. Though he strives to speak more about love, unity and equality the majority of his current album has to do with his favourite pastime – sex.Don Dagga was also a featured artiste on “Jamming on Cloud 9,” the 2004 album of the Jamaican reggae artiste X-ana, with whom he also toured. He currently resides in Graz Austria where he is currently in the studio finishing his 12 track cd “Fi Decades”.
