Listen, I know it seems like we had abandoned our web community, but that’s not the case we’ve just been busy mashing up some nasty beats for ya!!
Well, if you don’t know us, we‘re simply chronic music enthusiasts. Our capability for music creation far exceeds the tracks listed above, of which we are really proud of and hope you enjoy. The name Chorkor heights came about because both Kobie and Cobby live and record in an area of Accra called Mamprobi. Mamprobi is a suburb of Accra located on the western portion of Accra’s rather pristine coast and boarders an economically challenged area called Chorkor, renowned for its ruff and tuff sensibility. Hence the name Chorkor Heights.
The groups recording studio’s, 2 in all are located in Mamprobi . The studios are obviously the nerve centre for creating the uniquely grooved infused beats you here on this site. Inspiration is drawn from the sites, sounds, smells and overall ambience of this highly animated community. Having travelled extensively, all three members bring a rich pool of experience and diversity to he creative process that spans the early HIP HOP days in the south Bronx, the money earning Mount Vernon 80’s sound, through to the Pharel / Neptune’s beats of Minneapolis and the every present wild mix of the current Accra Hiphop community.
Each member of the trio have their strengths be it Kobby Ashuns heavily Sought after Technical and writing skills, by the west African music scene, to Sanam Aka Evil Twin’s complimentary and uniquely intelligent lyrical writing and arranging ability through to Cobby’s broad writing skill.
This year has seen an increase in the collaboration department, with many Collabs with Ghana’s up and coming young artist, which would include CHI of the well known KILL FLOW crew, the introspective poetic verse of DK, AKA Red Taliban, the delicious infectious vocal dexterity of MC SENA who features on the tracks above, the incredibly soulful LARNIN AKA Jnr. Ella, MANAFEST again hailing from Ghana but clearly a leader in the international up and coming rap scene and last but not least remix’s for the winner of the converted Ghana music awards category best new artist, KING AISOBAR…catch the unauthorised remix on Itunes titled My friend evil twin remix.
Watch this space for more Collabos with the likes of REGGIE ROCKSTONE, more REMIX’s for the KING AYISOBAR, the up coming EP EVIL TWIN, the live show Featuring EVIL TWIN and MC SENA. The crew intends to bring the save burning studio beats live and direct to the Accra club scene ….this will be KILLLLLLEEERRRR!
