Dragonfish is a three piece Brisbane band formed by singer/songwriter Jason Crawford in 2006. After nearly five years of living in the UK, Crawford returned to Brisbane armed with plenty of new song material. He caught up with old friend and drummer Chris Cannard who had also recently returned to Brisbane after two years in South Africa. Cannard and Crawford had been involved in several musical projects spanning almost fifteen years. With a mainly hard rock backround, Crawford's writing had taken a more acoustic direction. After several months of collaboration with Cannard, Dragonfish had found their direction; smooth acoustic songs with an edge and strong yet melodic vocals. In October 2006 Corey Shepherd joined the band. He also had a mainly hard rock backround. With much enthusiasm, Shepherd completed the trio with his classically trained basslines and soulful notes. Dragonfish entered Wavelength Recording to produce their debut EP in November 2006. This was completed in February 2007. They have an original and distinct sound leaving their audiences captivated and wanting more.
