SET against the backdrop of its lush rainforest, majestic rivers, soothing lakes, natural wildlife and an eco-friendly enviroment, Guyana will showcase its culture and style to the world as it plays host to the first annual GUYANA FASHION XPO.
AFTER a successful preview-showcase at the historic Umana Yana in March 2007, GFX will highlight the talent and skills of designers, models, stylists and hair and make-up artist, creating a sizzling weekend of fashion unparalleled in the southern Caribbean. WHILST bringing businesses and services ancillary to the industry from Guyana and the region together, the event will also serve to propel Guyana as the region's new fashion and manufacturing hub.
WITH carefull planning to spotlight Guyana for its natural beauty, GUYANA FASHION XPO is planned for MAY 24-25th 2008 at SPLASHMINS RESORT which is beautifully nested in the Madewini Wetlands.
DESIGNERS will present their collections on a casted array of local, regional and international models strutting on the spectular GFX 80 ft.long runway, especially created for the affair and which features a nautral fresh- water backdrop.AS part of its promotional package for the event, the producers are busy making preparations for "GUYANA FASHION XPO - THE WORLD'S LONGEST RUNWAY". Imagine a cadre of a hundred male and female models on the world's longest runway: THE DEMERARA HARBOUR BRIDGE. Models will start their runway strut on the west bank of the river ending on the east bank, making the 1.25 mile trek, " THE WORLD'S LONGEST RUNWAY".
GUYANA FASHION XPO is produced by three of Guyana's fashion icons: New York based designer/producer Roger Gary and the husband/wife dynamic duo, Trevor Rose and Michelle Cole-Rose.
