VGMC - Virginia Gospel Mass Choir and Friends are so glad you took the time to visit our site. In June of 2006 a dream and a vision came alive. Evangelist Lenis Guess IV and his wife Sonya Guess along with the help of many others, made a mark in history pioneering the first concert gospel mass choir in Virginia – the Virginia Gospel Mass Choir and Friends. VGMC is blessed to have the most talented singers, songwriters, musicians, and directors from all areas throughout Virginia. Our Choir is founded on the idea that Jesus Christ must be first in all of our steps as we seek to glorify Him in all that we do. Our purpose is to minister to all that we can reach through the gifts that God has bestowed upon us. We hope that the hearts of all those who hear us perform be uplifted as we worship God through song.
On June 10, 2006, the VGMC held a live recording in Norfolk, VA for its freshman project that was hosted by BETs own Dr. Bobby Jones. All the voices and music blended together in perfect harmony as if we had been together all the time. The choir performs under the direction of Earl Bynum, Patricia Knight, and Suzie Wright. VGMC is Virginia’s hottest new gospel choir. VGMC’s name has spread inside and outside of Virginia. The choir praise range from inspirational spirituals to contemporary gospel tunes that are uplifting and inspirational to its listeners.
Our repertoire includes: Numerous concerts throughout Virginia and Florida to participate in Bobby Jones' bi-annual International Gospel Industry Retreat. VGMC & Friends has sung backup for Stellar Award nominee The Craig Brothers and former R&B singer Tony Terry.
