Black Market Babies were born in late 2006, after a series of impromptu jams in Dave S's small bedroom, the result being permanent hearing damage for all four participants. Gaining new-found confidence from being unable to hear the concoctions they spewed forth, Daves S & K, Stephen P and Andrew C set out to conquer the world in a rock and roll band. In early 2007, vital founding member Andrew C was replaced when he decided to uproot himself to China, however his contributions are still remembered fondly by all today. With Tommy B inducted into the collective, the group focused and began steadily writing and rehearsing material. The BMBs as they are affectionately known launched their attack on the aural stratosphere of Perth in early/mid 2007 and continue to fight the good fight to this day.
Highlights in The Babies’ short gig career so far include a 3rd place in the WA State Final of the National Campus Bands Competition in what was their 5th ever show, opening for Karnivool and Bluejuice, and playing with the likes of Sugar Army, Streetlight and Harlequin League.
