About Me
Located in north Mississippi comes a new sound filled with rich enlightment and the heart of Mississippi. Southern Playaz Click (S.P.C) consists of 4 members. Boo Slick, 2XCellus, Mr. Wayne and Dat Boy Redd. All very music inclined and able to hold their own on any stage at anytime. Now don't get it twisted, this group is used to doing there thing, coming from to 3 albums of street success. Early days of this group winning a number of talent shows and street buzz got the attention of Antwon Simpson, CEO of then, Evil Eyez Entertainment. The group inked a deal and soon begin working on their new album. In 1999 "The Time Has Come" hit the streets of Mississippi like a worldwind. Fueled by hits like "Ridin'", established this virgin group as a force to be reckoned with and also the boost they needed. Amped with mystic southern beat drums, production by Jon Adkins, on songs "S.P.C. 4 Real" and "Southern Bump" backed up with viscious flows making the perfect harmony. The streets responded in uproar, selling over 600 copies it's 1st 2 weeks of release. "Coming where we from, that was unheard of", comments Boo Slick. "Nobody was recording albums and selling them then". Sophmore album "Behind Tha Pinez" in 2001 started right where their 1st album stopped off, showing any and everyone who the best was without arguments. Backed by a new sound with production by J-Rod of Clown Mazk Ent. clearly made it a classic album of its time. Songs like "Hard" and "Can U Bounce It" quickly became hood anthems. Hence, propelling S.P.C. to a new level of "hood respect" selling over 2000 copies just by word of mouth and their own independent work ethic. But like all good things, they come to an end. Dissatisfied with lack of financial support from their label, even after much success, S.P.C. took their act elsewhere. "I think we we're just glad to making music with our 1st album", says Redd of S.P.C. "We [S.P.C.] didn't even know alotta the in's-and-out's of the business and how the money flowed." "I don't regret ONE moment of it though, it just made us all better." Now much more mature and wanting more, the group set out to reach the top of their dreams. For the next 2 years, S.P.C. worked to keep their dream going, doing free shows, going city to city, selling CD's hand to hand, whatever they could to keep the public interested. In 2003, the group started their own independent record label Rhymewritaz Entertainment. Driven by a new desire, the group released their junior album Sept. 2004 re-establishing their hunger with the title "Back 4 What We Came 4". Voted the "best album ever" for independent underground status by the streets. Talked about in every barbershop, every club, every Joe Dick and Harry. Selling way over 7000 copies, S.P.C had "DID IT" again!!! You could hear it in their' voices, very much more in control and sure of themselves. Track 1 to track 16 you could listen to no matter what genre of music your involved in. "Mississippi Boyz" and "Ashland" let you know off top what they represented. Carried by beats from J-Rod(Clown Mazk Ent.), you had to move your body and get out of your seat if you heard "Chrome Thangz". They also showed diversity and character with songs like "Kandi" and "Big Picture". Speaking of the pain and struggles that they've been through as well as others. This, case and point, showed all the nay sayers, all the critics, that S.P.C. was way more than just "another rap group" and they could no longer be told that they were'nt good enough.
