About Me

Devin Andrew Collins is a pianist, composer, arranger, songwriter, brass player, bassist, guitarist, and teacher based in Houston, Texas. He has written works for strings, winds, brass, percussion, piano, organ, and voices. His first string quartet, "Anthem," enjoyed performances in Houston at the Moores School of Music and the Museum of Natural Science, in Dallas at the Museum of Fine Arts, and in Miami at the Frost School of Music. Other works have been performed throughout his undergraduate studies, including "UP" for five saxophones, "The Elements" for brass quintet, "Atmos Fear" for jazz orchestra, "Rigamarole" for clarinet and percussion, "El Devorador de Eternidad" for pierrot ensemble plus percussion, and miniatures for tuba, euphonium, trombone, clarinet, and tuba quartet. As a pianist, Collins has performed with the University of Houston Moores School of Music Jazz Orchestra, whose guest artists include Randy Brecker, Lew Soloff, Tim Hagans, Conrad Herwig, Michael Brecker, Bill Charlap, and more. He has played piano on a professional level in Houston for more than 3 years. Collins has an extensive list of performances as a freelance tuba player. He is currently singing the lead role in a musical theater production, "In the Middle of the Ocean," a rock musical by Chris Alonzo, produced by the newly formed Melusine Theater Company.
