About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

Capoeira Uniao began in London 2000, the group continues to rise, now we have branch in London, Cranfield and Luton. Enrolment continues to steadily increase with over 70 students from different countries and background. We travel around the world for festivals, workshops and competitions, the group name reflects its philosophy; that of people united through Capoeira, we have workshops, annual grading” Batizado”, also promotes Capoeira with history through workshops and performances at music festivals, weddings, night clubs, music videos, private parties, etc.

The Instructor: Joao Da Silva 'Dacor'

Joao Da Silva” Dacor” was born in Benguela; he began studying Capoeira at the age of 14 years old with Master Tucas and Master Umoi from Grupo Uniao Na Capoeira. At the age of 19 years old he moved to London to study Law, but instead undertook a BA in sports science in order to incorporate contemporary scientific approaches into his training of the ancient. Whilst in the UK and travelling to Brazil, Africa and Europe from his contemporary knowledge and ancient practise has emerged a philosophy as either Capoeira should no longer be taught according to traditional notions either Capoeira Angola or Capoeira Regional, but capoeiristas should be able to play equally to whichever rhythm the berimbau calls. His coordinator is Master Tucas from Grupo Uniao Na Capoeira.
