Paulo Pereira Quintett

About Paulo Pereira- * July 31 in the year 1967 in Emden/Germany, of Portuguese descent. Soprano -, Alto, Tenor and Baritonsax, Flute, Clarinet, Piano, Drums. Year 1995- Diploma in the subjects Germanistik, Music Science and Music Education in Oldenburg. Paulo studied 1997 with a scholarship at the Berklee College of Music/Boston saxophone, arrangement and composition. Instructions and Workshops with Jerry Bergonzi, Dino Govoni, Walter Beasley, Dave Liebman, Charlie Mariano, Thomas Frank, Greg Bardolato, Victor Mendoza, Dave Hollander. 1992-2005- Member of the Musical Ensemble of the State Theatre Oldenburg and guest at the Classical State Orchestra of Oldenburg. Since 1992 Paulo works as a Instuctor at the School of Music of the City Oldenburg for saxophone, jazz theory, improvisation and Big Band. 2001 Paulo moved to Hamburg. Saxophonist and Arranger with Soulounge feat. Roger Cicero and Lamont Dozier, Film Orchestra Babelsberg. Numerous concerts and festivals, e.g. Jazz Festival Archangelsk (1989), Montreux Jazz Festival (2003), Jazz Festival Aalen (2004,2005). 2002 Paulo founded a duo with pianist Joe Dinkelbach and 2006 he founded the Paulo Pereira Quintett. The Repertoire of the Quintett contains exclusively original compositions by Paulo. Unterricht und Workshops u.a. bei Jerry Bergonzi, Dino Govoni, Walter Beasley, Dave Liebman, Charlie Mariano, Thomas Frank, Greg Bardolato, Victor Mendoza, Dave Hollander. 1992-2005-Mitglied des Musicalensembles des Staatstheater Oldenburg und Gast des Staatsorchester Oldenburg. Seit 1992 Lehrtätigkeit an der Musikschule der Stadt Oldenburg für Saxophon, Jazztheorie, Improvisation und Big Band. Seit 2001 in Hamburg. Saxophonist und Arrangeur bei Soulounge feat. Roger Cicero und Lamont Dozier, Filmorchester Babelsberg. Zahlreiche Konzerte und Festivals, u.a. Jazzfestival Archangelsk (1989),Montreux Jazzfest (2003), Jazzfest Aalen (2004,2005). 2002 gründete Paulo das Duo mit dem Pianisten Joe Dinkelbach und 2006 in Hamburg das Paulo Pereira Quintett mit ausschließlich eigenen Kompositionen. Vier dieser Kompositionen wurden 2009 im "German Book, Vol I" (nil Edition) veröffentlicht.
