Astrid Pröll is a group founded during the summer of 2004 by veteran musicians of the local underground scene, inspired musically and thematically by revolution and counterculture.
The band seamlessly integrates a wide array of influences including krautrock, rock in opposition, ambient, post rock, space and stoner rock among others, creating an alternative for those tired of overdone formulas. The band takes its name from one of the founding members and survivor of the Rote Armee Faktion (Red Army Faction), also known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang, a student protest movement from the 1970’s that declared war on a fascist government with ex-Nazi Party members in control of Parliament. This movement took radical action against social conformity and state-sponsored oppression.
