About Me

Herbie Gaines is a Chicago born and bred singer-songwriter. His years of experience at life weave their way through his thoughtful music. He sings stories of love, life, sex, the human condition and situations that can be serious or humorous, often with underlying social commentary . Affectionately labeled by one fan as "Herbietunes" -- his songs are sometimes sweet, sometimes tart slices of reality. They will touch your heart, challenging you to think, make you laugh, or even move you to tears. Herbie's unique and intelligent "cabaret-style" acoustic guitar show blends elements of rock, country, spoken word, jazz, and broadway; an entertaining and engaging experience from beginning to end. My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.herbietunes.com
Band Members: Herbie is a solo artist, just guitar and vocalsHey I'm now on Itunes ! ! How cool is that?
Influences: I am a story telling songwriter. Harry Chapin and Jackson Browne are examples of writers that I love, who REALLY know how to tell a story. I try to focus in on the point I am trying to make like a laser, and stay on that "hook" to the end. My main goal is to be entertaining. That being said, my influences are very eclectic from the Beatles to Yes and Genesis to James Taylor to Andrew Lloyd Weber and Andrea Bocelli. I also love country music also because of the great storytelling. People like Tim Mcgraw, Johnny Cash, and Tracy Byrd can really tell you a great story in 4 minutes! I really love songs and artists that have very specific messages, that you feel you REALLY know what was trying to be conveyed.

Here is a "Herbietunes" version of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" performed at the "Gallery Cabaret", filmed and edited by Mr Garrett Lane and the same with the original "Herbietune" "Things---Don't Mean a Thing" right belowAbove is a cowritten song with a young lady named Heather Cowles, a demo singer in Nashvile, called "I need some Vitamin U" forward it to like 3:45, for some reason a song before it stuck in there and I can't edit it out. This one is with a full band when I played "Chicago Singer Spotlight" hosted by Becca Kaufman. This was filmed by Mr Steve Grant and by the sweet singing Eugenia Elliot, who played before me that evening. The band was Ben Lewis ..boards, www.benmusic.net, Chris Siebold on guitar http://www.myspace.com/chrissiebold, Greg Baroni on bass, and Rick Vitek on drums
