Myspace Backgrounds What to say? I'm a fifty-something hippy/NewAge gal with two grown-up sons, whom I probably embarrass terribly!I firmly hold to the belief that 'middle-age' is a state of mind more than anything else and I hope never to attain it. Indeed, one of my fiftieth birthday presents to myself was my first tattoo. I've since added another and I've just added a third..... trouble is I've just gone back to work as a receptionist so it had to be somewhere discreet! I settled on a 'bracelet' of roses (my name-flower) on the back of my left wrist. It merges nicely with the 'real' bracelets I also wear on that wrist. (I wear my watch on my RIGHT wrist as I'm left-handed.)I play concertina/mouth organ in a barn dance band working primarily in my old stomping ground of Kent. You can hear our music playing in the background of this page - enjoy! Please also visit the band's MySpace page (listed in my 'Friends') where you can hear three more tracks. My adored husband Henry plays melodeon (button accordion) and drums in the same band. Soon we hope to be taking some bookings in Devon, possibly working with a slightly different line-up from our Kent band. We recently provided a traditional Devon barn dance for the participants in the BBC TV series 'When Love Comes to Town.'I read a lot. I tend to pass my books onto friends then afterwards think 'Damn! I should have registered that book with www.bookcrossing.com before I passed it on....' It gave me such a thrill when I got the message that one of my books had been 'found'. I also love baking cakes (for a while I did this professionally), sewing, knitting and handicrafts. I design a lot of my own jewellery, as I find it hard to find pieces 'extreme' enough for my tastes!I've also tried my hand at drawing .... not good. I drew a portrait of my favourite actor, and he ended up looking like a bag of spanners. I felt too disheartened to ever show it to the actor involved.... I tried to blame it on being left-handed, but my 'sister' Ricia is also left-handed and draws like an angel..... I guess I just haven't got the endless patience required. One of my favourite expressions is 'just how hard can this BE?' I'm willing to turn my hand to most tasks/activities and try my best. The only thing I never mastered was swimming - I sink like a stone!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Kindred spirits. Quirky people. Folk with a story to tell... but please, please don't 'spam' me with fake offers of friendship, offers of marriage (sorry - already taken and blissfully happy about it!) or get-rich-quick schemes. If you do, I'm sorry but you're wasting your time. Believe me, I've been around long enough to spot a schmoozer a mile off. GENUINE would-be friends or people I actually know only, please! Here is a clip from a promotional video that the band made for the Museum of Kent Life at Cobtree near Maidstone in Kent. The dark-haired lady at the end of the bench is my mother (long since passed away) and the small boy being naughty is my son Rob! More clips like this can be found at the Rags & Tatters Myspace page - see my list of 'friends' and click on the band animation to get there.
