Since penning his first raps at age 12, Tyree “Flyy†Weston has seen his share of struggle, a struggle that many rappers proclaim to have lived, but really have yet to. As the term “street credible†becomes a dominating factor in today’s rap game, many rappers fall short, but Flyy on the other hand, has earned the right to wear the tag without question. While many of today’s lyrics are focused on jewels, clothes, and cars, Flyy raps on what seems to be “bottom of the barrel, nowadays†topics like what it’s like living next to 20 fools as a Section 8 resident and jacking to survive. Despite having a rough life growing up with such speed bumps as waking up blind at one point, Flyy is still determined on letting those that hear is music understand that “there’s no need to dwell on the bad. You can still come up out of it.†And that’s exactly what he did. Inspired by his two little girls and the desire to bless those around him, Flyy maintains that he is ‘unconfined’ to any one avenue of music, adding that, “I ain’t in no box. I’m not always trying to get money. I spend time with my family; I got music about that. I ball in the club; I got music about that. I rep everything that goes on in my life.†Undeniably, this 26 year old phenom has the drive and gumption to stomp along the muddy rap waters with the big dogs of the South. He says he’s poised, ready, and willing to do whatever it takes to make everything in this business happen like it’s supposed to happen. The reason: He says, “if I keep at it, then it’s a lot of people that will be able to eat.
