About Me

I'm a professional keyboard player with a background in philosophy. I studied classical piano for eleven years, and I've been playing in front of audiences since I was six. In addition to philosophy, I studied music theory and history in university.I have extensive experience, including over two hundred shows, coast-to-coast, with my band, Slammin Jack. We deliver a super high energy dance party with a strong foundation in psychedelic funk, and influences ranging from prog-rock to electric bluegrass, from psytrance to pop. We have two full length releases. The first, called "a day late, a dollar short," sold out from the stage and made it to ..6 on the earshot! College Radio Charts. The second, "The Merville Sessions," was released in January 2006 to much acclaim and excellent merch-table success. When I am not touring, I produce electronic music. Currently, I am working on a full length project, under the moniker Keyz. It's an all hardware body thumping psytrance experience that will lift you to the heights of of psychedelia and then scrape the inside of your skull with aural fingernails. Stay tuned for a release in 2006.I have played the most venerated venues, and the biggest dives, all across this country. I've played at such excellent festivals and outdoor parties as Evolve 4, Come Together, Equinox, Bonfire, The Edge of the World, and The Vancouver DuMaurier Jazz Festival. I have shared stages and bills with some of the best musicians in North America, including Medeski, Martin and Wood, Mark Farina, the North Mississippi Allstars, Jimmy Swift Band, Grand Theft Bus, and Garaj Mahal.I do session work in all genres, from prog-metal to reggae to electronica to pop.

Another of East Van's Hidden Gems

The Human Automaton

There is a certain sleepy satisfaction to be experienced on a mass-production line.  The work, which at first seems to rush you, soon takes on a tranquilizing quality; it is at once brain-numbing...

Some notes on the Cumberland Shows
